Evenings on Dark Island

by Rhett DeVane & Larry Rock

Evenings on Dark Island is here!!!

Welcome to the Spa at Dark Island, an exclusive resort operated by a former party planner turned reluctant vampire and his rat-faced attorney and best friend. The gators, snakes, and ’possums aren’t the only creatures haunting the evenings on the island off Central Florida’s muddy forgotten coast, and more than just the mosquitoes are out for a taste of blood.

Vampire Vincent Bedsloe III and human Arby Brown form a trusting friendship based on mutual neuroses. Dark Island provides a perfect sanctuary for the two misfits who hide from the world in high fashion. Vincent lives vicariously through the Internet, DVD’s, the drama of others’ lives, and Arby’s special blood wine made from donations pilfered from the spa patrons. Arby Brown—orphaned in childhood, shunned for his rat-like appearance—hides his face behind a beekeeper’s hat, and his heart beneath layers of accumulated pain. Both men attempt to control Vincent’s blood son Jimmy Rob Jones, a hard-living redneck vampire who maintains the fleet of limos and resides in a beat-up trailer on the far side of The Dark.

The week before the island’s annual Blue Blood Ball is hectic enough without the added torment of Emmaraud Bonneville, Vincent’s blood sire. A dead-ringer for Paris Hilton, Emmaraud arrives in a Maserati with Diente, a foul-tempered, blood-sucking Chihuahua. Reanita Register, an undercover DEA agent posing as a rich spa patron, factors into the week’s disastrous mix.  When Dark Island is ignited by a lightning strike during the gala, the disparate spa family must work together to save the human party-goers and themselves.

On Dark Island, life and death form a twisted circle. Like a phoenix rising from flame and ash, Dark Island will emerge and evolve. Evenings on Dark Island is a fang-in-cheek story of one week that will forever alter the Island and its mortal and immortal inhabitants.

Brad’s beautiful Hispanic wife Eleana gets plugged in for the Republicans, and a hard-living former Governor dukes it out with alcoholic former state senator Joel Orr for the Democrats. Control of power in Congress hinges on the election. Who, or what, really controls the outcome?
